After receiving her B.A. from a Midwestern university (where her father was president) Sara moved to Nashville, Tennessee, returned to school and received her aesthetician's license.

While providing facials in Nashville's most upscale boutique, Sara’s reputation grew so much that a prominent plastic surgeon — wowed by her combination of intelligence, ability, & enthusiasm for knowledge — asked her to come work with him.  In his office & under his perfectionist guidance, she gave beautifying, clinical-strength treatments (& pre/post-operative care). The age-defying, acne-clearing results she achieved further increased her fan base, including among many of the city’s famous faces.

Fun fact: She was Faith Hill’s very first aesthetician, hand-picked to polish up the novice singer’s skin prior to her first album release!

Sara became a regular guest on the live TV show ‘Talk of the Town’ as their resident skin care guru, giving on-air demonstrations and discussing all things skin-related.

Moving to Southern California in 2004 to work with both a noted plastic surgeon and a Harvard-trained dermatologist, she continued to advance her skill with cutting edge techniques.

While her enthusiasm for treating skin never wavered, an industry reality reared its ugly head — by working for someone else, she was unable to give her clients the time & attention they deserved.

For example, in one renowned office she was allowed 25 minutes (for a “30 minute” session) or 50 minutes (for a "60 minute" session). And this strictly-alloted time had to include everything from escorting the patient to and from the treatment room, allowing private time for the patient to change, answering all questions, taking detailed notes (which wasn't even suggested or required--(in a medical office!), making specific treatment and product recommendations, and Oh! Providing the actual service the patient came in to receive.

And these appointments were booked back-to-back all day long.  She often joked she felt like a glorified factory worker, and that perhaps by donning rollerblades she could increase her “efficiency."

Her heart ached to give the kind of attentive and caring service she believed each person inherently deserved. Frustrated and fed up, Sara left and started her own skin care sanctuary – SKIN.
